On April 16th, 2018, Dr.-Ing. Stefan Kaierle takes over the scientific and technical management of the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) together with Dr. Dietmar Kracht. He succeeds Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ludger Overmeyer, who takes over the Chairmanship of the Scientific Directorate from Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Ertmer.

Les Assemblées Générales de l’AFOP, le syndicat professionnel de l’Optique Photonique et du CNOP, le Comité National d’Optique et de Photonique ont voté leur fusion pour devenir Photonics France, le 24 avril 2018. Association loi 1901, Photonics France est la fédération française de la photonique. Elle regroupe les industriels, les académiques et les associations de la photonique en France.

As this Acute Coronary Disease (ACD) is caused by the rupture of atherosclerotic plaque (Coronary Artery Disease, CAD), the vulnerability of this plaque - more precisely its lipid-rich necrotic core - serves as an indicator for the probability of heart attacks and helps to determine the appropriate treatment.

Frank Grube, Allied Vision’s President & CEO, suddenly passed away on April 14, 2018 while on weekend leave at his family home. "We are all shocked by this terrible loss," said Michael Cyros, Chief Commercial Officer of the company and a member of the Management Board. "Our thoughts are with his wife and his family. Frank was a passionate leader and all Allied Vision employees know how much the company owes its success to his entrepreneurial spirit."

The 39th Session of the UNESCO General Conference has today proclaimed the date of May 16th as the International Day of Light. The proclamation of this annual International Day will enable global appreciation of the central role that light and light-based technologies play in the lives of the citizens of the world in areas of science, technology, culture, education, and sustainable development. The International Day of Light is an enduring follow-up to UNESCO’s highly successful International Year of Light in 2015 that reached over 100 million people in over 140 countries.

The signature took place at the 14th international exhibition for laser, optical and optoelectronic technologies at the Expocentre fairgrounds in Moscow, Russia.
