Auto series of flexible wavelength selector (FWS) features computer control of center wavelength, bandwidth and wavelength scanning via a USB link and GUI software. The FWS is a wavelength filtering device that combines the precision tunability and adjustable bandwidth of a traditional monochromator with the circular uniform aperture of a bandpass filter. Several models of FWS Auto are available with tuning ranges to cover the visible spectrum, each with FWHM bandwidth adjustable from 2 nm to around 20 nm and apertures of up to 10 mm diameter. All models provide high (106) out of band extinction.
The Flexible Wavelength Selector is a compact optomechanical device based on Spectrolight’s patented TwinFilm technology of wavelength filtering and scanning. The FWS Auto emphasizes operational simplicity and the software screens provide two operational modes – set and scan. The SET mode allows the user to independently set the center wavelength and the bandwidth (FWHM). The SCAN mode allows the user to choose start and end scan wavelengths, step size, step speed, and bandwidth. The software automatically controls the internal compensation optic in the FWS Auto in both modes so that there is no change in output angle or lateral shift in the position of the output.
The FWS Auto can be used to filter in either the source or imaging side of an optical system, and provides unique functionality in microscopy, illumination, machine vision, life sciences instrumentation, and hyperspectral imaging.
